Introduction:
The lecture series on the Basic Concepts of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) was organized to provide academia and researchers with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles and importance of intellectual property in their respective fields. The series aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge that would enable them to navigate the complex landscape of intellectual property, enhance their research practices, and contribute to responsible innovation and knowledge dissemination.
Objectives:
  • To familiarize academia and researchers with the basic concepts and principles of intellectual property rights.
  • To enhance participants’ understanding of various types of intellectual property, including copyrights, trademarks, patents, and trade secrets.
  • To introduce participants to the legal frameworks and international conventions governing intellectual property.
  • To emphasize the significance of intellectual property protection in fostering innovation, creativity, and economic growth.
  • To enable participants to make informed decisions regarding intellectual property management and commercialization.
Highlights Of The Lecture Series:
Overview of Intellectual Property Rights:
The lecture series commenced with an introduction to intellectual property rights, highlighting their definition, historical background, and growing importance in today’s knowledge-based society. Participants gained insights into the role of intellectual property in promoting innovation, protecting creators’ rights, and fostering economic development.
Patents and Technological Advancements:
A detailed session was conducted on patents, addressing the protection of inventions and technological advancements. Participants learned about patentable subject matter, the patent application process, and the implications of patent protection for academia and research.
Copyrights and their Protection:
